Port Said is a city that lies in north east Egypt extending about 30 kilometres (19 mi) along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, north of the Suez Canal, with an approximate population of 603,787 (2010).[2] The city was established in 1859 during the building of the Suez Canal.
Port Said has many distinctive landmarks, the most important of which is Port Said, one of the most important ports of Egypt, the building of the Suez Canal Authority, the most important monuments of the city and the old Port Said lighthouse. In addition to many museums such as the Port Said war museum, which documents the era of triple aggression on the city, and the Port Said National museum, which presents traces from various historical eras of Egypt as well as the history of Port Said since its inception in 1859 to the modern era, and the Victory Museum of Modern Art, which houses 75 Artistic work for Egypt's leading artists in various branches of fine art. Work began on the establishment of the city in the reign of and to Egypt Khedive Saeed on April 25, 1859 when Ferdinand de la SEPs started the Suez Canal drilling project.
The port of West Port Said or Port Said is located on the northern entrance to the Suez Canal and is considered one of the most important ports of Egypt due to its privileged location on the largest navigation corridor in the world Its total area is 2.9 km, the water area is 1.7 km and the land area is 1.2 km. The port is characterized by a separate station in the form of a dry casting plant (grain) and a container terminal. The number of docks at the port is 37, which are divided into public cargo piers, a rolling dock, a yacht pier and a passenger terminal, and each station is a set of berths with its own working area, including squares, warehouses, equipment and maintenance centers.
Located on the northern entrance to the Suez Canal and is considered one of the most important ports of Egypt due to its privileged location on the entrance of the largest international navigation corridor (Suez Canal) and in the middle of the largest commercial shipping line connecting Europe to the east and is the largest transit port. The Port of the sea limits the imaginary line from the end of the western barrier to the Suez Canal and until the end of the eastern barrier of the canal route from the sea, and from the south the imaginary line extends the width of the Suez Canal from the end of the communication channel to the eastern side of the Suez Canal.
